The matcha
What does it taste like?
Grassy and faintly sweet, with a savoury finish. Bitter only if your water is too hot. Keep it between 160 and 175°F.
What's in it?
Ceremonial grade matcha. That is the entire list. No sweeteners, fillers or flavours.
What does ceremonial grade mean?
Matcha made from young, shade-grown tea leaves, stone-ground to a fine powder. It's brighter in colour and smoother in taste than culinary grade, which is made for baking.
Why isn't it certified organic?
Ceremonial matcha from Kyoto is often grown by small farms that don't hold organic certification, even where practices are traditional. We chose the grade over the badge. If that matters to you, we understand.
Do I need a whisk?
No. A whisk gives the best froth, but shaking it with water in a sealed jar for 30 seconds works well.
How should I store it?
Sealed, somewhere cool and dark. Once opened, use within about two months for the best colour and flavour. Unopened, use by the date on the tin.
Caffeine and how it feels
How much caffeine is in it?
About 35mg per teaspoon, roughly a third of a typical cup of coffee.
Why does it feel different from coffee?
Matcha contains L-theanine alongside its caffeine, which is associated with a calmer, more gradual lift.†
Will I miss coffee?
Probably for the first week. The 14-Day Caffeine Reset in the Starting Kit is built for exactly that week.
Can I drink it in the afternoon?
It contains caffeine, so treat it like any caffeinated drink. Most people keep it to the morning.
Is it safe if I'm pregnant or on medication?
Ask your doctor before using any caffeinated product if you're pregnant, nursing or taking medication.

How does the Starting Kit work?
Your first box is two tins, the 14-Day Caffeine Reset and the Brain Fog Checklist for $79 with free US shipping. After that, you receive one tin a month at $38.
What are the plans?
One tin a month at $42. The Starting Kit at $79, then $38 a month. Quarterly, three tins every three months for $105. Or a single tin once for $59.
Can I skip, pause or change my plan?
Yes, any time before your next billing date, from your account.
How do I cancel?
From your account, any time before your next billing date. No emails, no calls.
When am I charged?
On the day your order is placed, then on each delivery date for your plan. You'll get an email before each renewal.
Shipping
Where do you ship?
The United States only, for now.
How long does delivery take?
Orders leave our US fulfilment partner within 1 to 3 business days, then usually arrive within [X to X] business days.
What if my order arrives damaged or doesn't arrive?
Email us within 14 days of the expected delivery date and we'll replace it or refund it.
The guarantee
How does the Empty Tin Guarantee work?
Finish the first tin. If your afternoons aren't better, email us within 45 days of your first delivery and we'll refund your first box. You keep what's in it. Full details are on the guarantee page.
